PLAY THERAPY

PLAY THERAPY

Play Therapy is a form of therapy that uses play to help children deal with emotional, behavioural and mental health issues with a therapeutic objective. It is typically used with children between the ages of 3 and 12. Because children are still growing and developing, sometimes it is difficult for them to put feelings into words or articulate their problems to parents or adults. The therapist creates a comfortable and safe space which the child can play with as few limits as possible. Through play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, problem solving skills, and learn ways of relating to others. Some of the potential benefits of play therapy are developing coping strategies, self-respect, empathy and respect for others and relieving of stress and anxiety.
